With seeming strained relationship between the military and residents of the Wa municipality of the Upper West region following the military brutality meted out to some residents on July 1, 2021, the Wa Naa has organized unification games for the military and some selected groups in the municipality.
The games which were held at the Tendamba JHS park on Friday, July 23, 2021, saw the competing sides took part in Soccer and Tug of Peace competitions.
The competing teams included, the Media eleven, the Magazine (artisans) eleven, the Butchers team and the Army side.
Gracing the evident was his Majesty, Wa Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV, Overlord of the Waala Traditional area and president of the Waala Traditional Council.
During the football games, the Media eleven team was not good enough to stand the might of the Military side as they lost to them by 1-2.
In the other football match, the Magazine side also exhibited splendid performance winning 1-0 against the Butchers eleven.
This therefore sets up a scintillating grand finale between the Butchers side against the Military side come next Friday.
In the Tug of Peace event, the Butchers side proved too strong for the military, eliminating them in the process.
In the other Tug of Peace match, the artisans (Magazine side) made light work of the inky fraternity to book a place in the finals against the Butchers.
Both finals of the two events are set to take place at the same venue next Friday and will afford patrons more excitement than witnessed in the elimination stage.
The games were very well attended by thousands of spectators who had a lot to cheer about.
The ‘Jama session’ of the military officers singing and urging their colleagues on, added more bite and entertainment to the atmosphere.
