Football fans, club officials, and concerned citizens in the Upper West Region are expressing strong anger and disappointment over the way football is being managed under the current leadership of the Regional Football Association (RFA), chaired by Mr. Yahaya Saadugu Biyad.
The recent uproar comes after several issues arose during the RFA Division Two Middle League, which was hosted at the Nadowli McCoy Astro Turf. Supporters say there is no transparency and fairness in how football activities are run in the region, especially from the juvenile level to Division Two football.
During the final stages of the Middle League, angry supporters gathered at the venue holding placards to make their voices heard. Some of the messages on the placards included:
•“No Progress With Biyad”
•“RFA Sold Division 1 Slots”
•“We Will Resist Poor RFA Leadership”
•“Biyad Must Go”
•“New Leadership For RFA”
•“Biyad Is Killing The Game”
•“The RFA Is Chasing Away Investors”
These messages show the deep frustration the people feel. Many believe the current leadership is not helping football to grow in the region and instead is pushing potential investors and talents away.
Some football lovers are calling on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to step in and investigate the happenings in the region. They fear that if the situation continues, it could mark the end of football development in the Upper West Region.
“The GFA must act now before it’s too late. Football in the Upper West is dying slowly,” one supporter said.
For now, the call for change continues, with many saying it’s time for a new leadership that will bring hope, fairness, and progress to football in the region.
