Stunner Gh, a prolific rapper from the upper west musician was surprisingly one of the musicians with the lowest nominations in the competitive Upper West Music Awards nominations list. This shocked many fans and music lovers as he is one of the most nominated artistes in the region, emerging as the PRUMAS 2020 most nominated artiste with 7 nominations.
Nominations for the upper west music awards were announced on Wednesday 10th November 2021 via the official social media handles of the scheme. 26 tough and competitive categories were revealed and had more 110 Artistes, DJs and Camps (Party Seekers) put together competing tightly.
Sambwoy Gh came out as the most nominated artiste with 9 nominations including the most Following up is Ojay with 6 nominations and Best Gally with 5. Rekordz, Dakora Pardo Best and Kawute also followed up with 3 nominations each. However, Stunner picked nomination in only one category, the Digital Act of the year.
According to Stunner, his concentrated interest on this category is because he sees it as the most important category for all 21st century musicians as it seeks to measure and award their growth in the digital market. “a single but really meaningful nomination in the Upper West Music Awards. We are measuring how we’ve been growing in the digital space and I personally believe this is the best category for all 21st century musicians” he stated on his official Facebook and Instagram pages. “congratulations to all other nominees and best of luck to us all” he concluded.
The Digital Act f the Year is a newly added category in this scheme and it seeks to award the artist with the most social media following and streams across all digital platforms. It came in as at the time the growing artists of the region have developed interest in this all-important section of their carrier as musicians. It is strongly contested by four great musicians in the region including Stunner GH, Best Gally, Ojay and Nashberry who are all recently noted for their strife for growth through these digital platforms.
