D Jay believes his career will soar if he makes more Afrobeat songs. Afrobeats seems to have taken over globally as even artists from European countries try to get into the genre.
He explained to Giovani why he prefers to be known as an Afrobeat artist, “Right now, I’m focusing more on Afro-beats, but I’m versatile. I can do any other genre, depending on how I feel. But right now, I think Afrobeats takes it. The audience loves it when I do Afrobeats. So I give them what they want.”
According to D Jay, music runs in the family bloodline. He mentions how he started signing as a young boy entertaining his friends.
“For me, music started when I was young. I used to go to the studio when I was six. I used to write my own songs, but then I didn’t record them. I would just write the songs, and when I meet my friends, we just vibe with it. Until I got to high school, that was when I recorded my first song. So when I dropped it, it went viral in my school and other schools. So that was a motivation for me to keep going.”
