The untold story:
Once upon a time, there lived a young girl with a dream of becoming a Banker/Accountant.
For her purpose to be realized she needed to study Business Accounting. Unfortunately the computerised school placement had chosen a school which did not offer Business Accounting but Business Secretariat.
Her prospectus featured a typewriter, marking the beginning of her nightmare.
Would her dream ever come true?
Disappointed she was. She had to carry a typewriter to school, studying Business Secretariat instead of her cherished dream. Despite tears and efforts to change school, she couldn’t.
Though she thought she’d end up being a secretary, her father’s promise to support her as a private candidate for accounting exams gave her hope. After WASSCE, she privately studied accounting for 3 months and scored a remarkable ‘B’ in the ‘Nov-Dec’ exams.
While she pursued a degree in BEd. Social Science (Economics major), fate intervened. As we say “where there’s a will there’s definitely a way” with support she landed a banking job and later pursued an MBA in Finance.
In 2021, her longing to be a Chartered Accountant resurfaced. Overcoming personal doubts, she pursued her dream.
In July 2023, she received the email confirming her qualification as a Chartered Accountant.
As She concludes her journey, she is reminded that every journey begins with a step, leading to possibilities unseen. Embrace courage to start it hopefully it would pave the way to your destiny, and believe in your dreams.
The protagonist of this destiny-driven narrative is none other than myself, Lady SAEDATU DEBERAYA SURAJ-DEEN, holding degrees in B.Ed, MBA, and CA.
It is vital to remember that consistency, determination, resilience, and hard work are pivotal in realizing dreams. Each day should be utilized to its fullest, striving, pushing, and continuously learning. With Allah’s guidance, the horizon is just the starting point.
