As Malawi Primary and secondary schools open their second term 03/01/2023 Tuesday, Secretary for Education, Chikondano Mussa has asked communities to be on high alert to ensure that the ban on food vending in schools is observed to prevent further spread of cholera.
She has also urged schools to observe standard operating procedures for preventing the disease.
Meanwhile, Teachers Union of Malawi president, Willy Malimba has advised all teachers to enforce improved hygiene standards and seal all overflowing toilets and where necessary, to report to authorities.
Over 576 people have died of cholera in the just ended year.
