Newly elected Women Lawyers Association of Malawi president Chisomo Nyemba says among the priorities during her term of office will be to implement strategic litigation and hold accountable everyone including duty bearers involved in human rights abuses against women and children.
The new president who was elected friday during a virtual meeting held to elect new office holders for the Association, has told zodiakonline that everyone involved in victimization of older women and children on witchcraft accusations among others need to be held accountable in order to end the vice.
Nyemba, managing partner of a law firm DNC chambers was elected alongside Matamando Chiweza as vice president, Yankho Mwandidya as secretary and Sandra Machinjiri as Treasurer.
The new executive will lead the Association for the next two years from 02 March 2023.
