U/W: MTN Ghana Donates 40 hampers to new born mothers at three health facilities in Upper West Region

The Upper West Regional office of MTN Ghana Limited have donated 40 hampers worth GHC12, 000 to new born mothers who gave birth on December 25, 2021 at three health facilities in the region.

The items which includes baby diapers, soaps and powder among others were donated to newborn mothers at Upper West Regional hospital, Nadowli District hospital and St Joseph’s hospital in Jirapa municipality.

The donation was jointly done by management and staff of MTN as well as the Medical Directors of the health facilities.

Speaking to the media, the Upper West Regional Manager of MTN Ghana Mr Kofi Owusu said as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and to smiles on the faces of new born mothers, every year they donate hampers to women who give birth on Christmas day as it marks the birthday of Jesus Christ.

Mr Kofi Owusu revealed that in the coming years MTN Ghana will extend the kind gesture to some districts and municipalities in the region where they are operating.

The Manager extended the company’s seasonal greetings to its customers in the region and urged them to re-register their SIM cards as the exercise is expected to end on March 2022.

The Medical Director of the Upper West Regional hospital Dr Robert Amesiya thanked MTN Ghana for donating to new born mothers at the facility and urged them to continue their corporate social responsibility.

Dr Robert indicated that when the facility started operations in 2020 when Covid-19 began, MTN Ghana Foundation came twice to donate PPE’s to the facility. He used the opportunity to appeal to corporate organizations in the region and beyond to extend their hand of support to the facility to put smiles of the faces of patients.

The Midwife In-charge of the Maternity Unit of Nadowli District Hospital and Acting Medical Director of St Joseph Hospital in Jirapa commended MTN Ghana for the gesture to the new born as some of them cannot afford to buy baby diapers.

They called on other philanthropic organizations and corporate institutions to emulate the kind gesture by MTN by donating to the facilities to put smiles on the faces of patients.

The new born mothers who received the hampers were full of smiles and joy for the gesture from MTN Ghana Limited and prayed for the growth and development of the Telecommunication Network company.

MTN Ghana also donated credit cards worth fifty Ghana Cedis each to management of the three health facilities visited.
