Ibrahim Moomin Badingu, popularly called Badingu is an afro pop reggae musician who hails from Wechaiu in the Upper West Region of Ghana.
Badingu is a cultural conscious artiste who prefers to sing in his native dialect (waale/dagaare). Preserving tradition and educating others on his culture are important to him and hence his choice of language, genre (reggae) and his choice of themes which are generally on rural and social development.
Badingu’s first studio work was in 2006. Spending time around the studio, he has had the opportunity to observe, learn and work with various artistes like Amandzeba Nat Brew, Nii King of Accra, Samini, Abu Sadiq and some local artistes from the Upper West Region.
Through his years of impact and experience, Badingu has won many nominations and awards in various awarding schemes both in and out of the Upper West Region. Notably, he has great national and international recognition as a vocalist, reggae artist and a rural and social development advocate.
Badingu is one of the best live band performers in the Northern Zone and has performed with the likes of Amandzeba at Kwame Nkrumah centenary celebration in Accra, Obour at the One Ghana Peace Concert in Accra, Abu Sadiq in Tamale and at the Waga Festival at Burkina Faso 2014.
Badingu will be delivering a live performance on 6th January 2023 at the Wa First and Last Gardens for the final awards night of the prestigious Upper West Music Awards.
