Ghanaian Gospel Singer, Wegeiwor, is doing something unique and differently positive and we need to pay more attention to her. For a while now, she has been exploring lyrics with her indigenous languages from Northern Ghana (where she hails from).
Unlike other Ghanaian Gospel Musicians who are very likely to use English, Twi, Ga, Fante or Ewe in their songs because those are widely spoken and ‘visible’ within Ghana, Wegeiwor, is championing an initiative to make the dozens of Northern Ghanaian languages (more) audibly accepted and at the same time doing God’s work by preaching to the masses through Gospel music.
Her latest song “M PagYa” released via Distrokid on Sunday, May 22, 2022 explores Dagbanli (the main dialect spoken by Dagombas from the Northern Region of Ghana). It outlines attributes that describe the supremacy of God.
Some parts of the lyrics she shares with us has some of these powerful attributes such as;
Tobbia Nawuni (God Our warrior)
Tiligira Nawuni( God Our Deliverer)
Faara Nawuni (God Our Savior)
M PagYa (I’m Grateful)
Kpienlana Nawuni (God Almighty)
yikolana Nawuni (God The Supreme One)
lagazibu Nawuni (God Of Wonders)
M PagYa (I’m Grateful)
