Agbenyenu and Rahman’s future at RCD Mallorca up in smoke as Spanish side plots defensive overhaul

The future of Ghana defenders Lumor Agbenyenu and Baba Rahman at Real Mallorca have been thrown wide opened after the Spanish side signed  Olympiacos ace Leonardo Koutris.

The La Liga outfit are planning a defensive overhaul following growing frustration over a long-term injury and lack of performance from the two Ghanaian stars.

Mallorca have moved to augment their squad with an eye to strengthen the left side of the team.

They have snapped  Leonardo Koutris on loan from Greek giants Olympiacos as they eye more signings in the ongoing transfer window.

The situation has put the future of the two Black Stars players- Lumor Agbenyenu and Rahman Baba in serious doubt.

The Spanish side does not want to gamble with the two players as they are aware their defensive options need reinvigorating.

It appears the club cannot count on both Agbenyenu and Rahman – who have been knocked back by recurrent injuries and low performances since joining from Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea respectively.

Rahman joined Chelsea in summer 2015 for a reported fee of 20 million euros. Since his arrival at the Blues, he left on few loan spells for the likes of Schalke, Reims and lastly Real Mallorca.

The 25-year-old left-back defender had hoped his loan expedition will work out positively this time after unfruitful spells in Germany and France with the Blues apparently not willing to depend on him anytime soon.

Lumor Agbenyenu also joined the newly-promoted La Liga outfit from Portuguese fold Sporting Lisbon.
