Antika Company Limited is an Agribusiness firm based in Wa, Upper West Region. The Operations Manager of the company, Seidu Mubarak who doubles as the Deputy Managing Director outlined the services the company provides as Mechanization Services such as providing small holder farmers with tractors, ploughs, harvesters,harrows, etc. Currently, they operate a rice mill to serve their customers.
Again, they do input distribution such as supplying fertilizer and certified seeds. They pride themselves in being one of the largest, local and indigenous seed companies in the country. Aside from that, they provide extension services.
Alhaji Antika, the Managing Director of the company and the second runner up for the overall 2019 National Best Farmer award added his voice to the discourse. He assured the public that with the introduction of PFJ, there will be no hunger. He showed the team the ongoing process of maize, rice and soya bean as well as the stocked warehouses to store these produce. “PFJ has come to help the poor Ghanaian farmer”, he said. As a farmer for the past 17 years, he has garnered the experience in the field to impart unto others and therefore entreated others to embrace the PFJ initiative with open arms.
The management of the company commended the government for coming up with such an initiative, especially for the small holder farmer.
Since 2017, the company has been a partner for the government flagship programme, Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ). Through PFJ, they have supported over 50,000 small holder farmers with inputs and extension services. This year, they have supported about 4,000 small holder farmers with input credit worth over 3 million cedis. They are hopeful that more farmers will benefit from the proceeds of PFJ.
