Nine more persons have lost their lives to Covid-19 in Ghana, according to the latest release by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
This has seen the deaths rise from 103 as of Thursday, June 25 to 112 as of Friday, June 26.
The total cases have also seen a jump to 16,742 after 311 new infections were recorded.
Significantly, 12,720 of the patients have recovered and discharged, leaving 3,910 under care and management.
There have been concerns raised about Ghana’s method of recoveries-cum-discharges with experts claiming they are a fodder to flare-ups in the cases.
According to the experts, asymptomatic patients, who are discharged, have the venom to infect, contrary to World Health Organisation (WHO) protocols on discharge.
The last count saw the country recorded its highest number of infections of 597.
The latest sees Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Central regions, in that order, still recording more cases.
Greater Accra – 9,326
Ashanti – 3,398
Western – 1,431
Central – 936
Eastern – 571
Volta – 337
Upper East – 274
Northern – 120
Oti – 110
Western North – 94
Bono East – 52
Savannah – 39
Upper West – 35
Ahafo – 8
North East – 6
Bono – 5
