Disclaimer: COVID-19 Patient in Wa is not related to Wa Naa’s family

Questions have begun to surface over claims by residents of Wa about the identity of the COVID-19 patient in the Upper West Region to the effect that they said the patient is related to the Wa Royal Family.

This follows the public issuance of a disclaimer by Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV that the COVID-19 patient is not a member of the Pelpuo family.

There were widespread rumours that the COVID-19 case in Wa comes from the Royal family.

However, In a disclaimer released on Saturday, Jinpenhi Naa Kadir Ibrahim, Secretary to the Wa Naa urged the public to ignore such information.

Below is the disclaimer

I issue this disclaimer as secretary to His Majesty the Wa Naa (Naa Fuseini Seidu Pepluo IV) and as a member of the Pepluo royal family of Wa.

Our attention has been drawn to some unfortunate speculation within Wa, the Upper West Region and possibly beyond that,
– the man who is reported as having tested positive for the Corona Virus (COVID-19) in Wa as was announced by the Hon. Upper West Regional Minister at a press conference yesterday, is a member or relative of the Wa Naa’s Palace or the Pelpuo family for that matter.

I wish to clear the air and categorically state as follows:

1. That the COVID-19 patient under reference DOES NOT come from either the Wa Naa’s Palace or the Pelpuo family.

2. That the said COVID-19 patient is NOT in anyway related to or known by the Wa Naa’s Palace or the Pelpuo family, save from the fact that he might also come from the Upper West Region.

3. That NO member of the the palace or the Pelpuo family has so far tested positive for the Corona virus either here in the region or elsewhere.

Thank you.
