Ghana’s all time leading goal scorer (51), Asamoah Gyan is set to release a statement over invitation by the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo.
Asamoah Gyan, early this week confirmed his decision to retire from the National team, Black Stars. In what he considers unfair treatment melted on him by the head coach James Kwesi Appiah, to hand-over the stars captianship to his deputy, Andre Morgan Dede Ayew ahead of the 2019 AFCON tournament.
Gyan, having released his statement of quitting, got invited by the President of Ghana, Akuffo Addo on Tuesday. But due to traveling distance, Gyan had to engage the President via phone.
Reports from the flagstaff house, revealed that after discussion with Gyan, the Black Stars technical team and Management, the forward (Gyan) will rescind his decision to return to the Black Stars for the tournament.
The 33-year-old striker, after engaging the President took to twitter to hint on releasing a statement over his discussion with the Father of the land.
“Later today, my Manager Anim Sammy will be speaking on my behalf regarding my retirement from the National team. I will also release a statement based on the telephone discussion with the President, H.E Akuffo Addo”.
Asamoah Gyan was appointed captain of the team in 2012 by Coach Kwesi Appiah after stripping it off from John Mensah in October.
