Abu Abdul Matiza, stage name Di Yungsta, is a Ghanaian singer born on December 24, 1997, in Wechau, the capital of the Wa West District in the Upper West Region, according to his Facebook account. He is the second of eight children, with one sister.

Di Yungsta spent his early years in Loggu, his mother’s hometown, where his grandmother raised him. He attended Loggu JHS and completed his basic education in 2016. He then proceeded to Kaleo Senior High Technical School (KASTS), where he achieved excellent results after three years of study, completing in 2019.

Di Yungsta’s musical journey began when he was inspired by Northug, a musician who frequently performed in Loggu. Di Yungsta would often freestyle for his mentor, and his passion for music led him to seek opportunities to record his debut single. However, he faced rejection until Ice King Waaluu featured him in a cypher, providing Di Yungsta with his first studio experience.

After the cypher’s release, Di Yungsta gained attention from investors and talent managers. Manager Gazor signed him under GM Entertainment, and within a year, Di Yungsta transformed into a huge success. His breakthrough song, “Wayoma,” became a national hit, establishing him as one of the most popular musicians from the north.

Having entered stardom, Di Yungsta has won the Upper West Music Award for Best New Artist in its first edition, securing a collaboration with Soorebia, one of the northern giant rappers. He has consistently produced quality music, becoming one of the artists with a huge following in the Upper West.

Today, on his birthday, I want to share the brief journey of the “Konkonte” hitmaker. Wish him well!
