A total of one hundred (100) girls drawn from both private and public basic schools across the Jirapa municipality are receiving training under the Girls-In-ICT programme.
The Girls-in-ICT programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, in collaboration with the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT.
The initiative is designed to empower girls with digital literacy and inspire them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In the morning of yesterday, [ Tuesday, September 23 2025 ], the Municipal Chief Executive for Jirapa, Hon. Peter N. N. To-ang was on the campus of St. Francis Girls’ Senior High School, where the selected girls are being trained.

During his interaction with them, he highlighted the importance of digital literacy and encouraged them to take their training seriously.He also urged the trainers to exercise maximum patience as they guide the girls through the various areas of training.
The 4-day training, which started yesterday, is expected to end on Friday, September 26, 2025.
The MCE has indicated that the Jirapa Municipal Assembly is fully behind the programme to ensure that it is successfully carried out in Jirapa.
