Tauranga-born defender Sham Sataiya Chetty continues to be in the limelight in regional football circles for his defensive skills, play making agility, and technical ability on either side of the ground. Born on 13th December 2000 in Tauranga, New Zealand, the 22 year old sports a unique profile in modern football blending defensive composure with attackiness.
Sham Sataiya Chetty, who is dual national to New Zealand and Fiji, is now well balanced at Right Back but is adaptable enough to also shine at Left Back and Defensive Midfield. He measures 178 cm and utilizes his height, power, and astute positioning to control defensively while making a significant contribution to his side’s attack construct. Being two footed in a unique way, Chetty is just as confident distributing and tackling with both feet meaning he is a safe bet for play in several systems.
In his native club Tauranga City AFC in the 2020/22 Winter League season, where he played throughout a season, he left his mark. He earned a place as a regular by consistently playing, featuring in a total of 19 games, scoring 4 goals, and offering a staggering 9 assists from defense statistics which reflect his input both defensively and offensively.
