French club Monaco have reached an agreement with Southampton for the acquisition of defender Mohammed Salisu, according to the Athletic.
The 24-year-old Ghanaian player is set to undergo a medical early next week after personal terms have been finalised.
Salisu’s absence from Southampton’s pre-season friendlies against AZ Alkmaar and Bournemouth has fueled speculation about his imminent departure.

The defender was on the verge of joining Fulham earlier this month in a £15 million deal. However, the transfer fell through as Fulham shifted their focus to securing the services of Calvin Bassey.
In March, Salisu made his last appearance for Southampton, and he was subsequently left out of the squad towards the end of the season due to concerns about his commitment and application while recovering from injury.
With his Southampton contract set to expire next summer and talks over an extension proving unfruitful, Salisu seemed unlikely to remain with the club following their relegation to the Championship.
During the previous Premier League season, Salisu featured 22 times for Southampton, showcasing his defensive prowess and talent.
Salisu joined Southampton from Spain’s Real Valladolid in 2020 and has made 80 appearances, scoring one goal and providing an assist.
