Starlink has introduced its highly anticipated internet services to Ghana, offering high-speed, low-latency connections that could revolutionise how Ghanaians connect, learn, and work on the internet.
Starlink’s technology relies on a constellation of low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, which enable faster internet speeds compared to traditional satellites, positioning Starlink as a strong competitor in the global internet market.
As of April 2024, the network consists of approximately 5,800 LEO satellites, designed to efficiently relay signals and provide download speeds that can surpass 100 Mbps in certain areas.
Here’s a breakdown of the service plans available and their costs.
Standard Plan:
Priced at GHโต770 per month, this plan offers unlimited data, ideal for household usage.
Priority Plan:
At GHโต1,078 per month, this option provides unlimited standard data, with added features like public IP access, network priority, and priority support. It’s designed for businesses or users with high data demands.
Mobile Plan:
Starting from GHโต1,540 per month, this plan targets remote workers, campers, and businesses operating across different locations. It includes unlimited mobile data within the country, and prices increase based on the level of priority data required.
Mobile Priority Plan:
Aimed at maritime users, emergency responders, and mobile businesses, this plan offers specialised features like inland and ocean use data, network priority, and priority support. The cost ranges from GHโต4,428 per month for 50GB of data to GHโต17,710 per month for 1TB of data.
In addition to the subscription costs, customers will have to purchase the necessary hardware which costs GHโต5,390 and shipping costs of an extra GHโต354.
