As part of efforts to develop and empower the youth especially graduates, Muslims Intellectual Network MIN an Islamic youth group in the Upper West Region have organized an Entrepreneurial Skills Forum in Wa.
The Forum saw five learned, seasoned and successful entrepreneurs educating over 100 youth, graduates and young entrepreneurs on how to become successful entrepreneurs and business owners with less capital.
The President of Muslims Intellectual Network MIN Abdul Rahim Abdulai said the Maiden Entrepreneurial Forum by MIN is one of the many activities done over the years by the network to develop the human resource base in the Upper West Region.
Mr Abdulai indicated that there is massive graduate and youth unemployment in the country and stated that the forum is to offer an opportunity for the youth to take charge of their own destiny.
He added that capital should not be a major barrier to become a successful entrepreneur but rather encouraged the youth to focus on the passion and zeal to take charge of their own destinies as unemployed graduates.
The President said the participants were schooled on how to get capital to start their business through other interventions aside their own little capital.
He noted that the programme will be sustained and organized in subsequent years by the network to help boost the morale of the youth to venture into entrepreneurship skills to help reduce unemployment.
Some of the participants who spoke to Radio Progress news said the Entrepreneurial forum have afforded them the opportunity to start their own business and also improve existing businesses. They thanked Muslims Intellectuals Network for organizing such a forum as it will go a long way to reduce graduate unemployment in the region and the country and also change the mindsets of graduates who come out of the University in search of white colour jobs.
The forum was on the theme “Taking Charge of your own Destiny: the Entrepreneurship Dilemma of the Youth”.
Speakers at the forum includes seasoned and learned entrepreneurs from the Upper West Region and beyond.
