Ibrahim Moomin Badingu, reggae artiste and Chief Executive Officer of Badingu Music has been adjudged male vocalist of the year at the 2023 Happy Man Bitters Upper West Music Awards.
The well-attended awards programme which was held on January 6 at First and Last Gardens in the Upper West Regional capital of Wa, also had about 30 different artistes, music producers and bloggers picking awards.
The Upper Music Awards was headlined by Happy Man Beverages Limited, producers of Happy Man Bitters in which in recent years has also been sponsoring the Upper East Music Awards and Miss Upper East Gh.
Ibrahim Moomin Badingu, popularly called Badingu hails from Wechaiu, a town popular for being Ghana’s hub for hippopotamus.
Badingu is a cultural conscious artiste who prefers to sing in his native dialect of Waale and Dagaare. Preserving tradition and educating others on his culture are important to him, hence his choice of language, genre (reggae) and his choice of themes which are generally on rural and social development.
