Dumba festival, which is the oldest and most popular festival  in Northern part of the countryand it’s celebrated annually by Gbewaa yaansi (descendants of Naa Gbewaa – Waala, Mampurusi, Dagbamba, Nanumba and Mossi in Burkina Faso) and our neighbours, the Gonja is to take place this year from the 9th – 15th  November .
In the Waala State, under distinguished leadership of the Overlord (Wa Naa), the occasion is used to promote developmental issues in the region. This year’s theme focuses on illegal logging of trees and charcoal burning,, a major setback for the region-Environmental Conservation in the Waala Traditional Area – A Must!”
Customarily, all chiefs within 11 paramountcy under His Majesty the Wa Naa meet every morning in the palace of the Overlord to render accounts of their stewardship over the past year to him. It is a period of stalk-taking, discussing of development and security concerns as well as the general well being of the people of the area.
The following are the program lined up for the festival
1. Massive cleanup exercise across the area
2. Enactment of enticing local dances at nights
3. Inter school quiz competitions on the envt.
4. Launching of two major projects by His Majesty Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV;
a) Educational Endowment Fund
b) Afforestation (on cashew) for selected communities across the Waala Traditional Area.
