Tragedy struck at Gambaga College of Education on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, when two final-year students on teaching practice were shot at around 11:30 pm. One of the victims, identified as Salifu, succumbed to his injuries instantly, while the other student sustained critical gunshot wounds.
According to eyewitnesses, the two students had just returned from a DSTV viewing center, where they watched the UEFA Champions League match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. As they stood outside their residence discussing the game, gunmen on a motorbike approached, targeted them, and opened fire at close range.
Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and transported the deceased student’s body to the morgue. The injured student remains in critical condition, receiving medical attention.
