Who else noticed the change in behavior of Staff of Wa Municipal Hospital? From the Nurses at the OPD, wards, doctors, to the security at the gate or the mortuary attendants, there has been major re-orientation on how they approach issues at their duty posts. The way they talk to patients or their relatives, has improved for good. Congratulations to the leadership and the entire staff for the improved service delivery particularly on behaviour(human relation) which was a big problem at that facility.
For the past one week (since Wednesday, 04/01/2023), my sister in-law was admitted at the hospital. Being a caretaker, I had to navigate my way to the OPD, payment points, dispensary, Scan, blood bank, lab, theatre and visit other patients(relatives/friends) admitted in other wards. I observed and interacted with a lot of people (staff and clients) inside the hospital within the period.
The nurses and doctors I had encounter with were calm, not arrogant or snobbish as some used to be. I was satisfied with the conduct of these professionals except one female nurse at the lab (name unknown) who was even worse than before. Many people I interacted with also gave similar satisfactory ratings.
Sadly, the no bed syndrome, inadequate consumables which has resulted into partial cash and carry is still affecting the smooth running of the hospital. Also, the lab is not well equipped, almost 50% of the tests are done outside the facility, something I suspect under dealings on the part of management.
There is still more room for improvement. The untimely death of little Shahid of the famous snake bite at the Municipal Hospital years ago has made me to scrutinize every little activity at that facility so that no patient should suffer same fate again.
